Jack Cortes

Jack Cortes, 71, of Meriden CT, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 22, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Moro) Cortes.

Jack was born in the Bronx NY, April 24, 1952, son of the late Alexander and Alicia (Candelas) Cortes and brother of the late Alice Cortes. In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his two children, Alexander Cortes and Andrea Cortes; daughter-in-law, Sherlly Cortes; and five grandchildren, Jaclyn Cortes, Gabriel Cortes, Logan Gagne, Natalia Cortes, and Jillian St. Pierre.

Jack was known by many people for many different things a friendly face behind the bar of Rosies; the friend who would drive across the country with you; and the grandfather who would both lead and follow the conversation with a joke. But most importantly he was the true definition of a family man. If you were sick, he would always want to be the one to take away your sickness. When you had an important event, he would always show up. He was present at countless sporting events, he would be there to listen to the newest instrument to come in the house or to watch gymnastics practice in the middle of the living room.

He was a die-hard fan of the Boston Celtics and Las Vegas Raiders, and regardless of the team's wins or losses, you could bet he'd be watching all the games cheering (or yelling) at the players as if he were the coach. As a big music fan, he also loved to entertain his family with classic stories about his days growing up in Jersey and hanging out with Springsteen at the Stony Pony, all the great bands he saw at CBGBs in New York, or the times traveling to various gigs with the Pet Clams. Jack embodied the message that life is meant to be lived and he lived life to the fullest.

Jack's family received relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27th, with viewing hours and a subsequent funeral service.
